Ciné-Balade

Lumière, birth of cinema

“Lumière, the origins of cinema” , the pioneers of the 7th art at the heart of a guided tour around the Opéra district and the Grands Boulevards.

Around the Grands Boulevards and up to the Grand Rex, passing the Opéra and the Passage des Panoramas, this cine-walk tells the story of cinema’s early days and recalls the iconic figures who made it great: inventors, directors, actors, and producers who brought cinema to life in Paris from the Belle Époque to the 1920s.

And since Paris is an open-air movie set, we’ll also talk about the films shot in the neighborhood: Hugo, The Intouchables, La Grande Vadrouille, Sherlock Holmes, Mission Impossible

WHAT OUR VISITORS SAY

  • Captivating

I’m not a movie buff, yet I loved this walk. Juliette is passionate about cinema and Paris, and it shows. She takes us to lovely places and tells us about Paris through the lens of film. Everything is well prepared and documented—she clearly did a lot of research. She knows a lot about cinema and about Paris. Bravo.

  • A great tour

I had the chance to do the Lumière tour on the beginnings of cinema by the Lumière brothers in 1895 and I absolutely loved it. The information provided by our wonderful guide, complemented by her iPad, was perfect. I learned a lot about cinema history. I’ll wait for sunnier days to try the other tours. Don’t hesitate to book or gift this to friends and loved ones. BRAVO.

The Lumière tour with Juliette is delightful. She knows her subject inside and out and shares it with enthusiasm and passion. We even forgot about the gloomy sky! Juliette brought major moments in film history to life, illustrated with images and anecdotes, and helped us discover traces of the past along the route. Very enriching and interactive. We can’t wait to explore the other tours. Thank you so much, Juliette.
